Reaching for the stars: Vision Boards 101

If you have already let go of your resolutions or New Year’s goal, do not fret. I want to share with you a little practice that you can get into anytime of year -you can even start today!
Perhaps you have already heard of vision boards. I first heard of this concept long before I actually decided to make one for myself, but hey, everything in time! It was back in high school when The Secret by Rhonda Byrne manifested itself into my life. One of the most memorable parts was when one of the speakers talked about vision boarding. He said he created a board full of images that represented his goals and dreams. Years later, when he moved into his dream house, he came across his old board and noticed that the exact house he had purchased was on it. He had known it before he had it. He believed it before he saw it.
This small anecdote always stuck with me, and since then, I have become a true believer in the law of this universe. Like attracts like and thoughts become things.
So why did it take me years to create a vision board of my own? I’m not sure!
In small ways I may have applied the concept by putting things out there with words and in writing, but this year I actually sat down and thought about what is was that I truly wanted to achieve before gathering different magazines and making an actual visual; something I could see and look at everyday.
Now I am inspired everyday to not only to believe in my dreams but to truly be able to visualize the life that I want. If you want your wildest dreams to come true, try this out and watch your manifestations unfold!
Making your own vision board
What you will need:
· Magazines, newspapers, print outs
· Scissors
· Glue or tape
· A piece of cardstock, Bristol board or even just a plain piece of computer paper
· A clear idea of what you want to manifest
Steps:
There really is no wrong or right on how you put this together. Just go for it and see what direction the creative process takes you. For some idea of where to get started, here are some steps you may choose to follow.
1. Start by creating a written list of your intentions for manifestations. This can be all the things you desire, want, need, hope for, dream about – there is NO limit to what you can ask for and no dream too big or too small, so go wild! I think creating the list helps so you know what to look for and what to include.
2. Cut out words and images that inspire you. Once you have enough, start arranging them on the sheet of paper before gluing them down. Make sure not to sneeze!
3. Once you’re happy with the placement, glue or tape them on the paper.
4. Hang the vision board up somewhere in which you will be able to see it everyday. The key is to believe that everything you have put on there is coming your way!
